Frequently Asked Questions

A Gentle, Baby-Led Approach to Newborn Photography

When should I schedule my newborn session?

It’s best to schedule your newborn session as soon as you know your due date. I only take a limited number of newborn clients each month to ensure flexibility around early or late arrivals, so booking in advance guarantees your spot. Once baby arrives, we’ll finalize the session date based on your little one’s timing.

How old should my baby be for portraits?

The ideal time to photograph your newborn is between 4–10 days after birth. During this window, babies are typically sleepier and more content being gently posed, which allows us to capture those soft, curled-up, snuggly images you’ll want to remember forever.

Can siblings and parents be included in the session?

Absolutely. These are your first moments together as a family, and I believe they deserve to be documented. Siblings and parents are always welcome to be part of the session. That said, once sibling portraits are finished, I kindly ask that younger children head home or step out with a caregiver so we can keep the space calm and focused for the remainder of the newborn’s portraits. The studio is a quiet, cozy place — but not the most exciting spot for little ones to wait.

What should we wear for family portraits?

Once your session is booked, I’ll send you a detailed prep guide with wardrobe recommendations for the entire family — including color palettes, styling tips, and outfit inspiration. I also have a small collection of timeless pieces available for moms and newborns if you’d like to borrow from the studio wardrobe.
